This Privacy Policy explains how CalSpark ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use the app. By using CalSpark, you agree to the practices described here.

We designed the app to keep your data to what is needed to make the features work. Where a feature needs a permission — such as your camera, photos, location, or health data — the app asks first, and you can decline or change it later in your device settings.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:

• Account information — such as your email address and the sign-in provider you use (for example, Apple or Google).
• Profile and goal information — such as gender, date of birth, height, weight, target weight, activity level, and dietary goals you enter.
• Food and nutrition data — meals you log, food photos you take for analysis, and the calorie and nutrition estimates produced from them. This can include health-related information.
• Health data (only if you connect it) — steps, active energy, workouts, heart rate, and sleep read from your device's health platform (such as Apple Health), with your permission.
• Location (only if you allow it) — your approximate location, used at the moment you search for nearby gyms, restaurants, or parks. We do not track your location in the background.
• Community content — posts, messages, photos, and profile details you choose to share in group features.
• Usage and device information — such as app interactions, device type, operating system, and diagnostic data, used to keep the app working and to improve it.

2. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• provide the core features — logging, calorie and nutrition estimates, tracking, and coaching suggestions;
• analyse food photos and text you submit to return estimates to you;
• personalise targets and recommendations to your profile and goals;
• operate community features you choose to use;
• maintain security, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot problems; and
• comply with legal obligations.

3. Automated analysis of your photos and text

When you photograph a meal or describe food, the image or text is sent to an automated analysis provider that returns an estimate of the food and its nutrition. This processing is used to give you results and to operate the feature. We do not use your food photos to identify you.

4. Health data

If you connect your device's health platform, the app reads only the categories you approve and uses them to show your energy balance and coaching. Health data read from the platform is not used for advertising and is not sold. You can disconnect at any time in your device's health settings, and you control which categories are shared.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed:

• Service providers — companies that host our systems, authenticate sign-in, analyse food images, provide mapping data for nearby search, and provide similar support, acting on our instructions.
• Other users — content you post in community or group features is visible to the members of those spaces.
• Legal and safety — where we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
• Business transfers — if the app or its assets are transferred to another party, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or limit certain processing. You can edit much of your profile directly in the app, and you can control camera, photo, location, and health permissions in your device settings.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards only as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond appropriately if a problem occurs.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed on servers located in countries other than where you live, which may have different data-protection laws. Where we transfer information, we take steps to protect it consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as through the app. The "Last updated" date shows when this Policy was last revised.
